Cement plastering on the outer walls started the day our last post was published (Feb 22nd, 2019). Our estimate is that it will take about a week to finish the plastering task. After that we’ll finalize the plumbing.
Cement Plastering the outer walls; Same as inner walls?
Most of the times yes. The work is same, i.e. sticking the cement mixture to the wall and level it up to make it a smooth finish. The only difference is that the outer walls are much higher then the inner walls. Also you can work on inner walls without caring much about the weather, but not on the outer walls.
Its winter season in February and we saw a lot of winter rains this year. Fortunately in last week there wasn’t much rain (just a day or two) so our schedule wasn’t disturbed much. But if you’re planning to start working on the outer walls, do check weather forecast first.
It took us about 7 days to plaster the outer walls and finish the plastering task. Each and every brick is covered with plaster now and we also added design patterns to the cement, as per our house design. See images below:
Finalizing the Plumbing
Now that the plaster is completed, we are going forward and finalizing the plumbing. As discussed before, we have already installed most of the plumbing. Now we are finalizing it by connecting the pipes to water tank, putting pipes in rain water drains and other smaller details.
All the plumbing should be done before starting the cement plaster, because you don’t want to break the plaster and install pipes later. We already took care of that so now we are only checking the pipes just to be sure and connecting them.
All the water pipes, drain pipes etc are installed now. We ran a series of tests to check for any leakage or blockage. As we were already careful, there was no problem and all pipes are working fine. Pheww!!
From tomorrow we’ll start working on our next task, i.e. installing tiles. We are planning to install tiles on floors across the house and floor + walls for the bathroom. More on that later.
